I’ve come away from the Be Inspired event today with a long reading list: it’s been fascinating to hear my colleagues’ interpretations of well known writers, who they managed to make entirely new. The panel session with Eric Meyer, Giles Bergel, Abigail Williams and Kate Lindsay raised really productive questions about the various ways the project could be developed, and how the content it produces could be used. Eric’s account of what ‘impact’ might mean for a project like this was enormously helpful, and Giles, Abby and Kate gave very diverse examples of their work with different people and institutions–academics and postgraduates; museums, browsers on the web; teachers and secondary school pupils. The discussion period highlighted an important question: how far is this project simply creating and co-ordinating content? Will it also be able to provide materials and frameworks for its use? I’m looking forward to the April conference, when potential users of the materials we’re providing will be able to talk about what they’d like the project to do.
Thank you, Lisa, Ylva and Peter, for a wonderful afternoon.
